                                                                       ODY SABAN

Ody Saban has the charm of

a true pagan,

a daughter, she says, of Lilith,

foremost among woman

                          generous

                          loving

                   cruel

and her drawing?

Fleshy,

permanently rounded and from which emerges a

conflation of three worlds: the neuro-biological, the

material and the imaginary: veins, arteries and

nerves cohabit with eyes thighs and feet

as well as symbols, mythical beings and snatches of

bestiaries, to forma, sometimes dreamlike but in the

main sensual, whole

            which cajoles

             invites

              winks

and then, just at the moment

of seduction, repels you with

a glassy eye,

a twist of the mouth,

a stinging look

and you take two steps back

but

then really all the sensuality

seems very inviting.

So you return

and this time look at it face to face

for through the intertwining the whole is fused

and you want to look

closer

and closer still

and again

And then you are caught.
